The United Nations' International Day of Peace - marked every year on September 21 - is a global holiday when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace.

This is a special video clip to provoke thought on global issues and promote peace in all forms. The piece features music from John Butler Trio's "What you Want" and Bliss n Eso's "The Sea is Rising"

Please help spread the word of global peace by forwarding this video to your friends and family.

The Lonely Island - I'm On A Boat

Yay, it's holiday time!

I've been drinking and eating like a crazy mo-fo for the past week and there's no sign of it slowing up just yet. I'm now off to Kangaroo Island to see the family and my one day old baby niece.

In fact, as I write this I'm actually on a boat heading to the island, so thought this song was appropriate.

Hope your all having a great start to the holiday season. xxx

Deerhunter - Desire Lines

Deerhunter are a rad band that's been kicking my arse with awesomness over the last few months. They're a four-piece from Atlanta and describe themselves as 'ambient punk' but there's certainly some solid pop harmonies and cool indie rock about them as well.

Desire Lines is just such a god-damn cool pop rock tune, and will certainly be up the list in my favourite songs/albums of the year.

The song is all about how exiting everything was when you were young, and as we get older somethings can lose their shine.

So embrace your inner kid, and look for the strange and wonderful where ever you go.

Eddie Vedder - Society

Wow, this movie and soundtrack still gives me shivers every time I watch or listen to it.

Into The Wild is one of the most inspiring, beautiful, happy and sad movies I've ever seen. Eddie Vedder does the entire sound track and absolutely nails it.

The movie is based on a true story about a boy who throws off the constraints of society and escapes to the wild of Alaska to be at one with nature and his thoughts. The movie is recreated from the journal logs that were found years later. The relationships he makes along the way are heart breaking, emotional, and pure. Damn, I wanna watch it again right now.

Eddie Vedder is coming out to play in Australia shortly, and I for one am so damn excited.

Enjoy this beautiful song. XXX

Weezer - Island In The Sun

I was woken this morning by this song on the radio, and my god it was the best way to wake up. Such a great smiley happy song.

It was released in 2001, on Weezer's killer Green album , a favourite of mine. This was one of the big hits and was certainly the song of my summer.

It also featured in the Triple J hottest 100 where it polled an impressive 7. They also made two film clips for the song, the first one done by the band and the record label, and the second one was directed by Spike Jonze that features the band playing with a bunch of cool animals. God I love that guy!

So which clip is your favourite?

Yeasayer - One

As we get closer to the end of 2010, I thought I'd take a look back to Jan and see what was floating my boat, and the first thing that came to my mind was Yeasayer.

I thrashed the crap out of this album for the first six months of this year, probably neglecting a fair few other bands because I just couldn't stop playing this.

The film clip is a bit strange, but the song is so damn good, just makes me wanna dance.

Perfume Genius - Mr Peterson

This is a tragic sad song about a school teacher who throws himself off of a building.

Mr Peterson sounds like a pretty sweet teacher, letting the kids smoke weed and getting them into Joy Division but clearly had some issues he was dealing with. Certainly not your average ball breaking high school teacher who thinks learning can only be accomplished by squashing the fun out of the entire experience. Teachers like this certainly stand out form the bunch, and this song make me think of the few that I had back in the day.

I'm betting he was an art teacher. Anyway check out this song and Perfume Genius, it's a really amazing album, and I'm loving it lately.

Little Red - Slow Motion

The summer of cricket has certainly started, and there's nothing I and most guys love watching more than super slow mo replays of sporting action.

There's been so many slow motion montages so far, and they generally have some pretty cool music that goes along with the footage.

I haven't seen this one used on the cricket yet, but they're bound to bust it out a few times over the summer. It also looks like it's filmed in the Inner West (same factory as the Urthboy film clip), representing yo!
