Nada Surf - Popular

I propose we support a one month limit on going steady

I think it would keep people more able to deal with weird situations

And get to know more people

I think if you're ready to go out with Johnny

Now's the time to tell him about your one month limit

He won't mind, he'll appreciate your fresh look on dating

And once you've dated someone else you can date him again

I'm sure he'll like it

Everyone will appreciate it

You're so novel, what a good idea

You can keep your time to yourself

You don't need date insurance

You can go out with whoever you want to

Every boy, every boy in the whole world could be yours

If you'll just listen to my plan:

Last Dinosaurs - Zoom

I'm originally from SA, now live in NSW, but lately my musical heart has been heading north of the boarded up into Queensland. With this in mind today's song continues my love affair with the music out of Brisbane, thanks to Last Dinosaurs.

Their debut LP In A Million Years is a maroon slab of indie awesome that's been winning them fans across Australia thanks to lead single Zoom.

Zoom kicks off with a sickly sweet new-wave indie pop guitar riff that that's backed up with a film clip that resembles a Mugatu brainwashing session straight out of Zoolander.

I'm not sure why but I feel compelled to play it over and over... and kill the prime minister of Malaysia!

Grouplove - Colours

Today's tune is brought to you by the every so lovely Mieke...

I first heard Grouplove at the Florence and the Machine concert late last year at The Wiltern in LA.

They were the opening band and I wasn't expecting much, as I was only there to see Florence.

Grouplove turned out to be absolutely amazing with both their vocals and onstage performance.

They're a newish indie band that is sure to top the charts, with Triple J already binging themselves with songs such as; Colours, Naked Kids and Love will save your soul.

They're certainly a band on the rise, and one I'll be keeping an eye on. Fingers crossed they pencil in a Splendour In The Grass performance in 2011!

Deerhunter - Desire Lines

Deerhunter are a rad band that's been kicking my arse with awesomness over the last few months. They're a four-piece from Atlanta and describe themselves as 'ambient punk' but there's certainly some solid pop harmonies and cool indie rock about them as well.

Desire Lines is just such a god-damn cool pop rock tune, and will certainly be up the list in my favourite songs/albums of the year.

The song is all about how exiting everything was when you were young, and as we get older somethings can lose their shine.

So embrace your inner kid, and look for the strange and wonderful where ever you go.

Foals - Balloons

Two very different albums, a string of dance floor filling tunes, and 73 indie styled haircuts later, the English lads from Oxford are ready to play for my listening and dancing pleasure.

After banging on about them for the past two years to anyone that will listen - the day I get to see the Foals live is finally here, and I'm very pumped about it.

So do as I will be doing tonight, put on your dancing shoes and jump around like a crazy freak to Balloons.
