Today's tune is brought to you by the every so lovely Mieke...
I first heard Grouplove at the Florence and the Machine concert late last year at The Wiltern in LA.
They were the opening band and I wasn't expecting much, as I was only there to see Florence.
Grouplove turned out to be absolutely amazing with both their vocals and onstage performance.
They're a newish indie band that is sure to top the charts, with Triple J already binging themselves with songs such as; Colours, Naked Kids and Love will save your soul.
They're certainly a band on the rise, and one I'll be keeping an eye on. Fingers crossed they pencil in a Splendour In The Grass performance in 2011!
Driving in the car on my way to work this morning I was greeted by a cracking tune from Brit-Pop's glorious past. That's right, I'm talking about the recently reformed Pulp!
Emma Swift of FBI radio certainly got my day off to a cracking start with this song as I sung along to every word. Nothing like a good sing-a-long to get the day rolling.
So like I said, Pulp recently reformed in 2010 and are set to play a whole stack of festivals in the UK, and I've got my fingers and toes all crossed and hoping that we may see them in Australia for Splendour In The Grass. Now that would be awesome.
As Julian says himself 'Tell me a story, I know you're not boring' - so if I must, here goes.
The Strokes have released some super-wicked albums over the years, and while they've all been galavanting around with solo projects the last few years, I was very pumped to hear they would be one of the headliners for this year's Splendour In The Grass.
This is one of my favourite Strokes tracks, party because it's just awesome, and partly because of my cool vinyl a lovely friend gave me for my birthday once. That same very friend sat down the front row of a Big Day Out with my better half and didn't leave the fence the entire day, just to get close to Julian. In fact they ended up touching him, kinda creepy, and kinda cool. Now that friend is off to New York - plenty of Julian stalking/touching to follow.
Foals were one of my top ten albums of last year, from start to finish it gets me amped up. So you could imagine my excitement when I discovered that they're playing the Splendour In The Grass festival this year. In fact it seems that everyone is playing Splendour this year, it's one of the best line ups I've ever seen for an Aussie festival. Pumped!
Anyway today's song is Cassius, I'm not entirely sure what the hell is going on in this film clip or what's up with the hearts hanging from strings, all I know that this song is addictive, and I love it with all of my heart.
