Foals - Blue Blood

Today's song is brought to you by the soon to be married Mr White.

Step aside Colin F...FFF..Firth this kid deserves an Oscar!

I love the film clip and the passion shown by the kid, he's really getting into the song, while everyone else acts normal, it's almost like he's imagining that he is a rock star.

Odly the only other person who really seems interested in the performance is the female teacher who seems completely turned on. I've always wondered how to turn your hot teacher on and this kid has nailed it.

Two Door Cinema Club - What You Want

These guys were amazing at the Laneway Festival!

There was quite a few clashes on the timetable which saw me flying solo to see some of my favourite bands, but I didn't really want to be alone.

Thankfully I bump into an old friend who had lost her group as well, so off to the bar and then TDCC we went.

We danced up a storm in the packed crowd. This song was a cracker, and the best part, I didn't have to go it alone!

Hunters & Collectors - Throw Your Arms Around Me

They're as Aussie as Vegemite, thongs, and AFL footy.

Hunters & Collectors were an essential part of any Australian's late 80' and 90's music collections. Like I've mentioned before, I was thankful enough to grow up in a house where H&C were part of our staple music diet.

This is such an amazing song, could easily be up there in the top ten Aussie tunes of all time. And it also sounds amazing when done by Eddie Vedder.

Not very often that your favourite musician does a cover of one of your parent's favourite bands. Quality.

Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks

Guest edited by - Mieke

I heard this song about a month or two ago on triple j, but missed the name of it, so it was to my surprise when 'Pumped Up Kicks' was featured on iTunes two weeks ago.

Foster the People is an awesome trio from LA and 'Pumped Up Kicks' has somewhat of a vintage sound to it, something different to what you've heard before.

The song ranked 32 on the recent Triple J's hottest 100, which i was slightly disappointed with as i thought it would make the top 10 for sure.

The good news is that Foster the People are touring Aus in February and I recommend checking this single out as i have been binge playing it ever since i downloaded it.

Kanye West - Runaway

Man, Kanye West and this song really used to shit me.

I really disliked him after that whole MTV thing. Just didn't like how he thought that he was the most important person in the world. WFT!

But yeah, I've come around and quite like his new album. Plus there's some pretty sweet ballet dancers in the clip, which just makes me think of Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman. Hmmmmm.....

There's the TV edit of the clip that condenses the nine minute song into four minutes, but there's also a 35 minute short movie by the same name that features snippets of songs from his latest album. Worth a look if you got a spare half an hour.

Butthole Surfers - Pepper

I was amazed to see Cloud Control kick into this song at a recent gig.

One of those odd times where the band hates their own biggest hit and refuses to play it - they describe it, with disdain, as a "pop song". I guess the Butthole Surfer's will be remembered for more than this song.

But they forget how awesome and fresh this sounded in 1996. It fits perfectly with stuff like Beck at the time - weird, cool, fun. Whats wrong with pop songs anyway?
