Having a big reflection back at old Aussie albums of late and if you're talking classic 90's Aussie rock then you can't exclude Regurgitator.
The three rockers from Brisbane were a hit with the kids thanks to their rocking guitars and combination of electro beats and effects.
Tu-Plang was one of my first favourite albums and featured hits like Kong Foo Sing, Couldn't Do It, I Sucked A Lot Of Cock To Get Where I Am and of course Blubber Boy.
I couldn't pick between Blubber Boy and Sucked A Lot Of Cock, so I've posted both!
Blubber Boy has the official clip while Sucked A Lot Of Cock doesn't have a filmclip, so I found a reasonably humorous snippet from the net, plus you can hear the song, so all good.
The 'Gurge are getting back on the road and playing gigs at the moment, hope I can catch them live again as they never disappoint.

It's pretty simple, I pick a song that's made my day a little bit more awesome and then tell you about it.

Hunters & Collectors - Throw Your Arms Around Me
They're as Aussie as Vegemite, thongs, and AFL footy.
Hunters & Collectors were an essential part of any Australian's late 80' and 90's music collections. Like I've mentioned before, I was thankful enough to grow up in a house where H&C were part of our staple music diet.
This is such an amazing song, could easily be up there in the top ten Aussie tunes of all time. And it also sounds amazing when done by Eddie Vedder.
Not very often that your favourite musician does a cover of one of your parent's favourite bands. Quality.

Dave Warner - Suburban Boy
Today we've got a song from my good mate Yauman, direct from the UK and in your face now.
Danny Yau’s Occasional Obscurities.
The Brits had the Jam. The US had the Replacements. Australia had no shortage of working class rock with hints of punk. Almost totally forgotten now, but one of the very best singles at the time was by Dave Warner’s From the Suburbs – and it’s called Suburban Boy. How’s that for dedication to a theme, Mr Win Butler?
The album it came from, 1978’s Mug’s Game was released by Mushroom, but is sadly deleted, and kind of dated. Suburban Boy, however, remains timeless.
That stuttering intro! That keyboard riff! That splash of guitars! And Dave up front, singing from his suburban heart.
Such a simple song as well. About watching football (“just to hear myself scream”) and losing out to pretty city boys – I’m surprised this wasn’t as big as other Australian pub/punk classics.
I look at my mates and we all lived this song, but didn't have it in our lives. I would have loved this song as a teenagers. As it was I discovered it in my mid 20s, and still feel the same.
The film clip is hilarious. Hip city cats pushing a poor blue collar kid around at a local dance. Sadly, the band broke up shortly after, and angry Dave Warner became a script writer for MacLeod’s Daughters.
If someone released this song now, it would be a hit. In any event, it’s ripe for rediscovery. It’s as good as I’m Stranded, Alone With You, My Pal, etc. Which means – Australian rock at it’s best.

AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long
Today's song brought to you by the letters A, D, C, and delightful Monica Lee!
The song was originally released in 1980 (4 years prior to my birth) on the Back in Black Album. A signature hit of AC/DC it was re released in 1986. Shook Me All Night Long became a pub anthem, not only in Australia but around the world.

Thanks for having me as a guest on your blog Woody!
Todays' song is an all time favourite of mine and barely needs an introduction. No matter where I am, every time I hear that guitar intro it sends chills down my spine and the sudden urge to jump up and start dancing takes over!

Still rocking the charts, in 2010 the song was ranked # 5 on Melbourne's Triple M Radio station's Ultimate Rock Countdown.
Now living in California, I don't get to hear as much Aussie music as I would like, however this song (and many other AC/DC songs) get plenty of love over here in the USA. Every time it plays, I suddenly become the loudest one in the bar/pub singing word for word, what I consider to be one of the best songs of all time!
Enjoy! xo xo

British India - Avalanche
Melbourne Rockers British India are back with their third album and it's kicking my arse with it's awesomness at the moment. Earlier this year I was all about my overseas bands, but it's great to see there's some killer albums from Aussie artists starting to fill up my 'top ten' list of albums for 2010. This is making it on the list so far.
It's great to have some cool Aussie rock to listen to that hasn't been watered down, plus the clip has slow-mo, and what guy doesn't love some sweet slow-mo action?

Gyroscope - Some Of The Places I Know
The WA Aussie rockers have returned with their fourth album, and yet again they've hit the nail on the head with another great Aussie rock album.
These lads are my little guilty pleasure, they always get me pumped up and ready for action. Gyroscope fit 'The Living End' mould of a rock band that consistently realeases solid album after solid album without getting bigger than their boots and becoming average very fast (We're looking at you Wolfmother).
They are consistent, and in today's fast paced, get famous quick then burn out by album number two times, it's good to see a bunch of decent lads finding some longevity to their music careers.
Love this clip! The visuals are so damn great, I'm not sure where it's all filmed but I'm hoping it's WA, and they're representing for the West side. So listen to their latest single, get back to nature and enjoy the scenery.
