Today's post is written and performed by the amazingly talented singer/songwriter that is Liam Gerner.
Liam, take it away...
It's been 10 years since SIEV X sunk off the shores of Australia killing 146 children, 142 women and 65 men, all refugees, all looking for a better home (the majority coming from Iraq) and all having paid $11000USD.
Australian authorities knew the boat was sinking and chose not to act. The refugees it turns out were forced at gun point onto the ship by traffickers. Their names would not have been forgotten if this tragedy was a plane crash.
I've added Small Wooden Boat to my music FB page which I wrote about SIEV X. If you don't know much about the tragic accident you can hear a short radio clip about the disaster by clicking HERE - its' really worth listening to.
Best wishes Liam.
