The Avalanches - Since I Left You

I heard that The Avalances have a new album coming out soon, which is great news, I mean we've only been waiting 10 bloody years since their last one.

I remember the first time I heard The Avalances I was drinking the bosses BMW up through double bay, radio blaring, and Fronteir Psychiatrist came on. I was instantly hooked with their awesome samples and sound effects. Then came this classic tune Since I Left You, a dreamy song that just lets you float away with it.

It doesn't get played as much as Fronteir Psychiatrist, but certainly deserves to be as it's such a great tune. Plus the dancing miner is pretty rad.

Jeff Buckley - Everybody Hear Wants You

The first Jeff Buckley song that really grabbed my attention as a kid. I was a bit young to listen to any Jeff before this, but now I was 17, had found myself a new lady friend and was falling deeply in love for the first time in my life.

Que Jeff Buckley, a future wife, leaving behind my young and foolish teenage years, and getting in touch with my emotional side thanks to Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk. His voice is just so beautiful and captures my attention every time I hear it; I think this combined with the fact that (when I was 18) chicks thought a guy who liked Jeff Buckley must be all-right. haha. Must have worked, she's still with me.

I just realised I'd never actually seen this filmclip, which shocked me after so many years of watching music videos. I guess Rage guest programmers always go for Last Goodbye or Hallelujah, still quality songs, but I love this one as it always takes me back to those first three months with Katie. The beginning of a perfect life/wife.

Bright Eyes - Lover I Don't Have To Love

It's dark, catchy, has a great drum and bass line that just keeps on thumping along for the entire song. I know it's not the exactly most uplifting song, but sometimes you need a good anti-love song playing in your headphones to give a big secret FUCK YOU to the outside world.

I think the karaoke style clip is pretty smart, seeing as most karaoke songs are feel good love songs. I could image the sort of person who would sing this at karaoke would no doubt be alone and crying into their drink. So if you're in need of a good cry, or like singing karaoke on your own, I hope you enjoy this one.

Black Lips - Bad Kids

The Black Lips were responsible for one of the craziest live shows I've seen in a very long time!

The guitarist spitting into the air and catching it, spitting onto the back of his guitar and letting it drip into his mouth while he solo'ed. Getting so pissed on stage that he power chucks all over himself mid song - and keeps singing! Swinging their guitars at security guards who were trying to stop the crowd from stage diving, and then we get to the two guitarists who decided to start making out like drunken teenagers in the middle of the stage.

Listen to the lyrics when they sing Bad Kids, are they saying bad kids, or faggots? Kids like you and me! It's either a song about naughty children or a empowering gay rights song. Either way it rules.

Ha ha, I like the fact the film clip has karaoke words to clarify that it's bad kids, but I'm still not sure. What do you think? It fits right?

Foo Fighters - Low

So I interviewed Chris Shiflett from the Foo Fighters today, and can I just say he's an absolute legend. We got talking about Foo Fighters film clips, and he said his favourite is 'All My Life' which is a cracking tune and cool clip with Dave's clear perspex guitar and red silhouettes. But for me I just can't go past 'Low'.

There's something about Dave Grohl and Jack Black done up as cross dressing hicks having a night of passion in a cheap and seedy motel.

Dave looks great as a nasty version of Paris Hilton while Jack Black looks like Rosie O'Donnell on roids, yet some how sexier.

So this is my favourite Foo Fighters clip. There's plenty more but I had to pick one. What's your favourite Foo's vid?

Hot Hot Heat - 21@12

I'd like to officially apologise to anyone that's had to listen to me singing this song over the last week. It's been stuck in my head, and the only way to solve this problem is spread the world and make it my song of the day. To be honest if you're going to have a song stuck in your head it might as well be something as lovely as Hot Hot Heat, mind you the party at the end of the clip has some very disturbing characters getting about.

I'm so pumped that they're back, as I've always been a big fan, and their new album is a cracker. So I hope you like this one as much as I am at the moment.
