Koop - Koop Island Blues

Today's song is brought to you by the fleet footed lanky lovable character that is Nicholas T!

Howdy music loves, during my time overseas recently I have met people from all over the world and been introduced to aw hole range of different musical styles.

I was fortunate enough to become great friends with a guy who I lived with in Copenhagen. Hans of Germany (no surprises with a name like that) told me about a band called Koop.

Each night we would listen to their album, and many others, while we made dinner in our communal kitchen. We would never tire of hearing Koop and 'Island Blues' is just one of many songs that I fell in love with.

it is mellow, very chill, has a mesmerising melody and is a song that reminds me of good times with great friends.

The song speaks of heartbreak and longing for someone you can't have, which was appropriate for me, and I am sure is something that will resonate with many.

Hope you enjoy.

The Postal Service - Such Great Heights

There's no real reason for me picking this song today, no lightning strike moment of clarity, no epiphany, no live changing moment.

I simply just love it! And I'm pretty sure that the majority of you will also.

The Postal Service is Ben Gibbard who's better known for being the front man of Death Cab For Cutie, but he's pretty damn impressive when fronting The Postal Service as well.

Ball Park Music - iFly

Hey all, been feeling a bit sick today and lying in bed, which has kind of sucked, but while I was lying in bed listening to the radio and feeling sorry for myself I heard this song, and thought of all of you.

My FB group page for the blog (http://on.fb.me/cUacxq) has reached over 500 members, so I was pretty stoked about that and this song is my way of saying thanks to all the lovely people who have shared links, clicked like, tweeted, and invited people to the group page.

So to all you awesome folks out there, this song is for you.

Bob Marley - Is This Love

A few weeks ago a friend posted a status update on Facebook stating her hatred for all things reggae, and to be honest I was a bit shocked. Sure reggae isn't going to be every one's cup of (herb) tea, but I didn't think it was possible to hate something that to me is so positive and happy.

The greatest reggae man of all time Bob Marley was full of love and positivity that it makes me happy every time I listen to any of his tunes. Is This Love, I certainly hope so!

I love the film clip to this song, it's just Marley performing at a kids party and everyone having a good time. Filmed in the days when you could have kids in a film clip without people thinking nasty things about you. I wish this was one of my birthday parties, a great time would be had by all.

So light up the darkness people and let Bob give you a big music hug and share the warmth and love that is reggae.

The Middle East - Blood

I'm really loving The Middle East at the moment. I had no idea they were from Townsville, Qld, which just impressed me even more.

Blood is such a beautiful and sad song about love, family, death and divorce. It helps to remind me about the more important things in life which can so easily be forgotten in today's fast paced society of materialistic lust and self worth.  When all your posessions are gone and you're stripped naked, what do you have left?

Think about your family, your brothers, sisters, mother, father, grandparents, and loved friends. When was the last time you told them all that you loved them? This song reminds me to do it as often as possible. Hope it does the same for you.

Love you, WD. XXX
