Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand

He's simply amazing, Nick Cave is one of the all time greats, and today's song is brought to you by they lovely Celina...

OK! This song was my first Nick Cave experience... back in, let me see 1991, when I was but a wee 13-year-old, I went away on a seaside holiday with best friend's family up the Yorke Peninsula.

We stayed in a caravan park.

As you do at 13, we went on a night walk adventure and over by the shore we could hear music, oh! And the closer we went I was intrigued by the dark, deep sound being produced by the ghetto blasta (or in this case beach blasta!)

These boys (older of course) were a playin' THIS...! Nick Cave - Red Right Hand.

Too scared and freaked out by the sound, we hid in the bushes and stalked them all night and listened to the whole album.

I'll never forget how this music made an impact on my ears and mind.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Stagger Lee

I saw a documentary the other night about classic Aussie albums and the album being featured was Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Murder Ballards from back in 96.

The album was their ninth studio recording, and each song was themed with the crimes and consequences of passion.

Stagger Lee, started out as a smooth bass line, and slowly the Bad Seeds added bit by bit, and after an hour of jamming, they had a 'killer' song.

This song (and album) is simply amazing. Nick Cave is a true poet and wordsmith, and the genre that the album follows shows him in all his glory. Powerful, sad, emotional, dark, passionate, Cave has got it all.

Grinderman - Heathen Child

Got an email from my mate Jay Bird this afternoon, he's pretty knowledgeable when it comes to sweet tunes, so thought I'd share his words with the rest of you.
Went something like this...

Dude new film clip for Grinderman is incredible - check it out!

Pretty much anything Nick Cave touches in recent years turns to gold - whether it's his work with the Bad Seeds, writing movie scores, authoring novels or leading his side project super group Grinderman.

So understandably I was salivating with anticipation when I heard the news that Grinderman would be releasing a new album this September.  Here is the first single from it and in typical Cave form it has a confronting film clip to boot.

The clip is directed by John Hillcoat, who Cave worked with on the movie The Proposition, and it is to put it bluntly - fucken awesome.... enjoy - The Bird.
