Blur - Country House

Oh Britpop, Damon Albarn and Blur, now I love thee!

My iPod was trying to tell me something this morning, as it randomly played this song twice, and I'm only on the bus for 15 minutes. And boy was I thankful!

Blur is the prefect music to start the day to. It always puts a smile on my face, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone with that one.

I'm pretty pumped to see Damon and the Gorillaz out here in Australia in December. So I hope you enjoy this slice of old school Albarn to make your morning a happy one.

The Flight Of The Conchords - Sugalumps

Music and comedy coming together is generally pretty funny, for about five minutes. I mean, we all love a good laugh at a comedy song, but who ever listens to it more than twice?

The Flight Of The Conchords changed all that with their TV show and albums featuring songs from the show. Not only are they piss-your-pants funny but they make tunes that rival half of the serious musicians these days.

I love their Sugalumps tune, it brings a smile to my face every time I hear it, and I also love that Arj Barker gets a cameo in the tune as the hock shop sales dude. King Missile gave us Detachable Penis, and now FOTC give us Sugalumps.

Put two in my coffee please, and I'm a happy boy.

Little Red - Rock It

I had a song picked out for today, knew what I was going to write, had it all sorted. But while I was driving home from basketball and feeling a bit down (we lost a close match) Little Red came on the radio and my mood was instantly changed.

This song is one of those tunes that can instantly put a smile on my face, no matter what mood I'm in. It gets my head bopping and my hands tapping and within seconds I've forgotten about what ever bullshit was clouding my mind and taking up too much of my happy time.

I've seen them live once and the drummer didn't stop bopping his head or remove the giant cheesy smile from his face the entire gig. It's impossible not to smile when watching someone that happy, it's infections and so is this song.

Now listen, and smile. Don't try to fight it, it's impossible.
