Last Dinosaurs - Zoom

I'm originally from SA, now live in NSW, but lately my musical heart has been heading north of the boarded up into Queensland. With this in mind today's song continues my love affair with the music out of Brisbane, thanks to Last Dinosaurs.

Their debut LP In A Million Years is a maroon slab of indie awesome that's been winning them fans across Australia thanks to lead single Zoom.

Zoom kicks off with a sickly sweet new-wave indie pop guitar riff that that's backed up with a film clip that resembles a Mugatu brainwashing session straight out of Zoolander.

I'm not sure why but I feel compelled to play it over and over... and kill the prime minister of Malaysia!

DZ Deathrays - No Sleep

From their killer performances at SXSW in Austin (one show was closed down for being too awesome and loud) to being named in the top five most exciting bands of 2012 by NME, two piece thrash pop from Brisbane Dz Deathrays are certainly winning fans across the world of late.

I gave their new album a spin today and it's pretty dawn RAWK! Reminded me a bit of Death From Above 1979 and that my friends is certainly not a bad thing.

Oh and it seems that Arj Barker is a bit of a fan... he's in this clip. Awesome.

Cloud Nothings - Our Plans

Today's tune is brought to you by Sticks one handsomely stylish man who calls Adelaide home. When he's not running one of Radelaide's hottest late night venues or partying with beautiful people, he's listening to awesome music bands, Cloud Nothings are one of those bands...

Converse, , flannel, ripped jeans and drinking to excess! This is what the 90's evoked and that's ecaxtly what Cloud Nothings have going for them. New era, lo-fi grunge for you to reminisce over times passed.

Their latest album Attack On Memory is well worth a start to finish listen. Stand out tracks are Stay Useless, No Future-No Past, Wasted Days and of course Our Plans which we've gone with today. You might start questioning whether Kurt Cobain really is dead.....
