Manu Chao - Me Gustas Tu

A few years back at Glastonbury I was treated to the amazing happy music that is Manu Chao, thankfully last night I got to relive it when I saw Manu Chao at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney.

It was a latino hot box with the temperature rising quickly as the South American crowd partied and danced like their lives depended on it, as did Manu Chao.

The first encore came in at just after an hour of carnival dancing and singing, but they were anything but finished. Encore after encore saw the band play for almost two and a half hours, and the crowd was not letting up.

The whole theatre shook and sang along to every song of the happiest music my ears have ever had the pleasure of devouring.

Once they finally finished after about seven encores there was a buzz on the street as people piled out of the theatre continuing the party outside. If you've seen them live, you'll know what I mean, and if you haven't... make it your mission, you'll never be let down.

The Black Keys - Lonely Boy

Woo Hoo The Black Keys El Camino is finally out!

It's my new favourite happy dance tune and the classic clip certainly has a lot to do for it. This was originally filmed at the lyric video but became so popular online that it was made the official clip soon after it's release.

The Black Keys just keep releasing killer album after killer album and El Camino is no exception to the rule. Loving it!

The Music - Getaway

A few weeks back while freezing my arse off at the Parklife Festival I spotted a familiar face up on stage with Mike Skinner from The Streets.

It seemed that The Music frontman Robert Harvey was up on stage, playing guitar, lending back up vocals and busting out the strange dance moves I'd come to love so much from The Music's awesome live shows.

Going back nine years and The Music were one of my favourite new bands, I played their debut album non-stop and was lucky to see them at Splendour In The Grass and two Big Day Outs.

Sadly drugs and alcohol took it's strain on the band and after three albums they all went their separate ways. Getaway, is my favourite tune off their debut album and brings back great memories. Hope you enjoy it also.

Justice - D.A.N.C.E.

I was certainly behind the 8-ball when it came to Justice or any form of dance music to be honest.

I had never really listened to Justice before, that was until I went to the FIB festival in Spain back in 2008.

A mate of mine would not shut up about Justice for days on end insisting that we needed some fat dirty beats to get things moving along. Well the beats were fat and dirty and things were certainly moving along at a rapid rate.

It may have had something to do with the litre cervezas, free pour spirits and what ever it was crazy eyed gypsy handed my mate through the fence, but I was having the night of my life and dancing my tits off like I actually knew what the hell I was doing... I didn't, but it didn't matter!

And that's how I discovered Justice.

Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark

Lately at work we've been busting out some horribly fruity dance moves, there's 'the clapper', 'the hallway creep' and 'reverse windmills' - the other day our song of choice was Dancing In The Dark.

It turns out that The Boss is also a fan of some 'oh so cheesy' dance moves and has his guns swinging around like there's no tomorrow.

Oh yeah and it also appears that everyone hated sleeves in the 80's, especially Courtney Cox.

tUnE-yArDs - Bizness

Today's song is brought to you be the musically inspired Celina...

I don't know much about this band but I came across this song and LOVED it.

It's a great song to dance crazy styley - and the video is BRILLIANT!

They have a new album out that I must get my hands on!

Hope you like it too!

Two Door Cinema Club - What You Want

These guys were amazing at the Laneway Festival!

There was quite a few clashes on the timetable which saw me flying solo to see some of my favourite bands, but I didn't really want to be alone.

Thankfully I bump into an old friend who had lost her group as well, so off to the bar and then TDCC we went.

We danced up a storm in the packed crowd. This song was a cracker, and the best part, I didn't have to go it alone!

The Rapture - Whoo! Alright! Yeah! Uh-huh!

So as I've said before I went to the Falls Festival for New Years Eve.

I loved Public Enemy but I have to say my highlight for the entire festival was The Rapture.

It may have had something to do with the amount of beer and vodka I'd downed, but when this tune came on I sung and danced like a crazy man. I think I may have scared a few people but I didn't mind, I was having the time of my life.

People don't dance no more
They just stand there like this
They cross their arms and stare you down and drink and moan and piss

Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor

Stop making the eyes at me, and I'll stop making the eyes at you, what is is that surprises me is that I don't really want you to... ah, love it.

The year was 2006, the little lady and I had moved into the greatest share house of all time - The House Of Rock. Bodhi living in the spare room with Loretta and an assortment of drunk friends and sometimes randoms sprawled out over the lounge room floor every Friday and Saturday night.

It was the place to be every Friday night, sitting in the back yard around the table, smashing beers and cocktails like alcohol and livers were going out of fashion... and playing great tunes.

Every time this song would come on we'd all jump up from our chairs run to the hallway and dance like absolute fools, drinking what ever bottle of spirit was lying near by, and not stopping our little mosh group until the song was over.

We certainly didn't look good in our hallway dancefloor but by god were we having fun. So crank it up and dance like an absolute fool and have a shot for me!

May the house of rock live on...

Calvin Harris - Acceptable In The 80's

To keep the love vibe flowing over from yesterday I've gone with some early Calvin Harris for today's tune.

I first saw Calvin Harris live at the FIB festival in Spain. I'd never heard of him but it seemed that every hot chick in Spain had! Clothes were flying everywhere, sweat poured off everyone, and litre beers were being downed at an alarming rate. To say there was a lot of love flowing would be an understatement.

As soon as I heard Calvin telling me that he had much love for me simply because I was born in the 80's, I know I would be a fan. It might have been the litre beers, or the bottomless vodka redbulls (god bless the Spanish free-pour) but I was starting to lose my shit. The shirt was ripped off and stupid lunatic dancing had already commenced.

So this one goes out to all the kids of the 80's, I've certainly got hugs and love for you all.

Hockey - Too Fake

If you're ever looking for a pick me up and need to dance around the house on your own like a fool, then be sure to chuck on some Hockey.

Hell I'm dancing like a retard at my desk in the middle of the office while I listen and write this blog. He does say in the song, 'I can't even talk to you, about my affect on people, because I'm doing the same thing to you.'

I wonder if he's talking about his ability to make me dance like a Russian chess champion on meth (never actually seen that but I imagine he wouldn't be the greatest dancer). Either way, this album is guaranteed to get you up and dancing. I caught them live earlier this year in a tiny venue, and it was so damn sweet. A room full of people dancing like losers, and having the best time, and totally ruling.
