Hunters & Collectors - Throw Your Arms Around Me

They're as Aussie as Vegemite, thongs, and AFL footy.

Hunters & Collectors were an essential part of any Australian's late 80' and 90's music collections. Like I've mentioned before, I was thankful enough to grow up in a house where H&C were part of our staple music diet.

This is such an amazing song, could easily be up there in the top ten Aussie tunes of all time. And it also sounds amazing when done by Eddie Vedder.

Not very often that your favourite musician does a cover of one of your parent's favourite bands. Quality.

Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder, my god. So damn awesome. What can really be said about this song...

It's one of the best songs off one of the best albums ever made. Bam!

If half the music out there was made with anywhere near the passion and conviction that Vedder and Co do then we'd all be very lucky music fans indeed.

Eddie Vedder - Society

Wow, this movie and soundtrack still gives me shivers every time I watch or listen to it.

Into The Wild is one of the most inspiring, beautiful, happy and sad movies I've ever seen. Eddie Vedder does the entire sound track and absolutely nails it.

The movie is based on a true story about a boy who throws off the constraints of society and escapes to the wild of Alaska to be at one with nature and his thoughts. The movie is recreated from the journal logs that were found years later. The relationships he makes along the way are heart breaking, emotional, and pure. Damn, I wanna watch it again right now.

Eddie Vedder is coming out to play in Australia shortly, and I for one am so damn excited.

Eddie does Society with Johnny Depp

Local H - Eddie Vedder

You know it's been a good night when you're scrounging around for change with a few mates so you can chuck it in the pub juke box at 4 in the morning. Sitting in the last bar open, with it's sticky floors, scuffed up old pool tables, and that subtle hint of sick lingering in the hair.

Not the most ideal of bars, but there's two things going for the late late local, and that's the fact that a) there's still beer behind the bar and b) you can put on your own tunes on the jukebox.

I don't know who put on Local H last night, but I'm sure glad they did. Eddie Vedder was one of the best indie rock tunes from the mid 90's and it still sounded just as awesome played over the pubs shitty old speakers.

Ben Harper & Eddie Vedder - Under Pressure

The music gods were begging me to play this today. First off on the way to work, Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 came on randomly on my iPod, which got me thinking about this awesome cover that I saw them perform live in Adelaide and Sydney.

Then after lunch, my iPod was still on random and played Bowie's version of the song. So yeah, it has to be a sign that today's song must be Under Pressure. Anyway this cover version with two of my favourites rules, I remember getting goose bumps watching it live. An original awesome track done justice by two modern era icons.

And yep, I can't believe Vanilla Ice stole that bass line, its identical!
